Course Overview:
This course prepares the students for a scholarly take-off in the field of Gurmat Sangeet. This advanced course is meant for students to take up advanced analytical research for understanding Sikh musicology from the perspective of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib while exploring intricate technical and temporal concepts of Gurmat Sangeet and producing original work.
Prerequisite:
- GS 301: Shabad Keertan Chauki Tradition of Gurmat Sangeet
AND - An Approved Topic Test by Program Chair
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe musicology of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
- Demonstrate knowledge of advanced analytical research for the understanding of Sikh musicology from the perspective of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
- Explore intricate technical and temporal concepts Gurmat Sangeet and producing original work.
- Perform Keertan in front of audience.
- Describe traditional Sikh music styles and streams.
