Course Overview:

This course introduces students to the complete structure of keertan performances (Keertan Chowki) per the Sikh music tradition. This course prepares the student to be capable of carrying out a technically structured complete keertan performance as per the Sikh music code of conduct (keertan maryada) and move them towards a career in Sikh music.

  • Demonstrate Chowki tradition of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar
  • Perform basic Shabad Keertan Chowki tradition.
  • Define Chowkis related to Sikh ritual ceremonies
  • Demonstrate Shabad Keertan Chowkis related to seasons and occasions
