Education is always in a state of change, and more so since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The traditional cohort business models have been challenged to meet needs of stakeholders and all academic institutes have been forced to find alternative methods of imparting education. A quick adaptation to online teaching has followed. While GNI is offering all its current courses ‘ONLINE’, we expect our faculty, staff, and students will interact in person from time to time.
Thus, the following COVID 19 policy will be implemented:
Get Vaccinated
We strongly recommend that all GNI community members get vaccinated unless they have valid reasons for not getting vaccinated. In BC, vaccines are available to everyone aged 12 and older, including incoming international students who can receive their vaccinations after arriving in Canada. You can learn more at https://immunizebc.ca. Effective September 7, 2021 all students, faculty, and staff must complete an online, confidential declaration of their vaccination status.
Proof of Vaccination
If you have declared that you are fully vaccinated, you will be asked to upload your BC Vaccine Card to the declaration website to verify that you have been vaccinated. Instructions on getting your BC Vaccine Card are available here. Your card should look like this:

If you are not currently eligible to get a BC Vaccine Card or are awaiting access, then you may upload other documentation that shows your full name, name of vaccine(s), and date(s) administered. You may upload multiple documents if necessary. If you were vaccinated in a country other than Canada, you should upload the proof of vaccination that was required for you to enter Canada; if your document is not in English or French, then you must upload a copy of both the original language proof of vaccination documentation and an officially translated copy.
If you cannot access the declaration website or have questions about what is acceptable, contact info@gurunanakinstitute.ca to determine an alternative means of submitting your proof of vaccination.
