Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies engages a broad network of more than 230 academic scholars, professionals, and community leaders who contribute to institutional dialogue, research collaboration, and program development initiatives.
From this wider network, individuals are appointed to defined advisory leadership roles to provide structured consultative guidance in areas including academic benchmarking, research oversight, governance development, legal compliance, and strategic planning.
Advisory roles are consultative in nature and do not exercise governing or academic decision-making authority, which remain vested in the Board of Directors and the Academic Council in accordance with GNI’s governance framework..
Dr. Baljit Singh
External Academic Advisory Board Chair

Dr. Baljit Singh serves as Vice President of Research at the University of Saskatchewan, where he provides strategic leadership for research planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and scholarly excellence. An internationally recognized veterinary scientist, he is a fellow of both the American Association of Anatomists and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, reflecting his standing in the global scientific community.
Dr. Singh’s research expertise centers on the cell and molecular biology of lung inflammation, and his work has advanced understanding of inflammatory mechanisms with implications for health and disease. His contributions have been acknowledged with prestigious honours, including the Outstanding Veterinary Anatomist Award and the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence.

Dr. Satpal Singh
Governance and Policy Advisor

Dr. Satpal Singh is Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the State University of New York at Buffalo. His research career has focused on the molecular and genetic regulation of ion channels and their role in neurodegenerative disease and cellular physiology. He has led internationally recognized research initiatives, authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals, and directed an annual summer research program at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Singh brings significant experience in institutional and community governance. He is a founding trustee of the Sikh Council for Interfaith Relations and has provided leadership in advancing interfaith dialogue and public engagement on issues of ethics, faith, and civic responsibility. A survivor of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence, he has represented Sikhi in international forums, including participation in interfaith initiatives promoting peace and harmony. He is also a regular contributor to major publications, including opinion pieces in The Washington Post and The Huffington Post.
Dr. Singh’s combined experience in academic leadership, research oversight, and community governance contributes valuable perspective to institutional planning, scholarly development, and ethical stewardship..
Chris Campbell, Ph.D.
Degree Program Consultant

Dr. Campbell (ReVision Educational Consulting Ltd.) is the Associate Director, Program Development and Quality Assessment at the University of the Fraser Valley. He is also an Associate Professor and Head of Adult Education and Information Studies. Chris, a chemical engineer and then a chemistry teacher by training, worked in a variety of industries before transitioning into post- secondary education and training. He brings over 25 years of experience in Adult TVET/STEM and TESL education to his teaching, instructional design, assessment development, and program and credential development across various post-secondary, community, and work contexts. Chris received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia (UBC), an M.Ed. from the University of Edinburgh, a B.Ed. from UBC, and a B.A.Sc. from the University of Waterloo. He has significant expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research, particularly in educational measurement and program evaluation research methodology. He is committed to conceiving, designing, implementing, and refining courses, programs, and credentials that maximize student learning and positively impact the professional and personal life pathways of diverse learners in a range of post-secondary, workplace, and community contexts.
Major (Ret’d) Jasbeer Singh
International Relations Advisor

Major Jasbir Singh is a former officer of the Indian Army who later relocated to Canada. Following fourteen years of service as an Information Technology Manager, he established his own consulting practice. He brings over three decades of leadership and management experience, with expertise in strategic planning, organizational development, team leadership, operational problem solving, and international engagement. His professional background encompasses military command, corporate management, and community governance.
Major Singh has maintained a longstanding commitment to community service and institutional leadership. He previously served as Vice-President of the World Sikh Organization (WSO) Canada and played a key role in the establishment of the Sikh Federation of Edmonton, where he served as Director of Communications for twenty-six years. He also founded a charitable initiative in India, dedicating his Indian Army pension to support underprivileged children and humanitarian causes.
Since 2010, he has served as a member of a quasi-judicial board for the City of Edmonton, adjudicating citizen appeals related to municipal property assessments and taxation.
His distinguished service has been recognized through several honours, including the Sena Medal for Courage and Leadership awarded by the President of India, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal (2002), and the Alberta Centennial Medal (2005).
Amanpreet Singh Hundal
Advisor At Large

Amanpreet Singh Hundal is a senior health system leader with extensive experience in public sector governance, health policy implementation, and organizational transformation in British Columbia. He has held leadership roles with Northern Health, Interior Health, and Doctors of BC, where he has led teams responsible for system-wide initiatives and provincial program management in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Mr. Hundal brings experience in strategic planning, cross-sector partnership development, and operational oversight within complex public health environments. His work has focused on advancing equitable access to healthcare services, including addressing systemic challenges faced by rural and underserved communities.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Management and Finance, an MBA in Human Resources and Management, and the Financial Management Advisor designation. His background in financial management and organizational leadership contributes to institutional governance, strategic oversight, and policy development
Rami Pandher
Legal Advisor

Rami Pandher is a lawyer with Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP in Calgary. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from University of Western Ontario in 2013 and was admitted to Alberta bar in 2015. Mr. Pandher maintains a general income tax practice, with a focus on corporate taxation and reorganization, mergers and acquisitions and international tax matters. He provides a comprehensive range of legal services to meet the unique needs of Charities.
Dave Byng
Strategic Planning

Dave Byng has just concluded a 37-year career with the Province of British Columbia, most recently as the Ministry of Education’s Deputy Minister. In this role, he oversaw a $6.5 billion K-12 education system. He has extensive experience in senior executive positions with several BC Government Ministries. Mr. Byng is a Governor of Royal Road University and a senior advisor to its President. He is a recipient of British Columbia’s Premier’s Award of Excellence and the Royal Roads University Founder’s Award. Mr. Byng is providing strategic advice to Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies.
Neesha Hothi
Marketing & Communications Strategist

Neesha Hothi is a passionate executive with 15 years of experience in events, marketing and communications, and a deep entrepreneurial spirit. Her work has varied across a variety of arts, culture, lifestyle and entertainment brands. Key career appointments include being the Event & PR Manager for the Olympic Superstore for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the Marketing and Communications Director for the 2018 JUNO Host Committee and successfully running her own public relations agency. On a personal level, she is a champion for ethnic voices, particularly South Asian voices, and consistently supports local not-for-profits in their work to preserve, elevate and highlight arts and culture.
Davinder (Ravi) Deo
Creative/Brand Designer

Davinder (Ravi) Deo is the founder and creative director of STUDEO Design. He is an experienced and creative professional, who has worked with both small to medium-sized companies and global brands including Electronic Arts, City of Vancouver, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin. His career spans over 15 years and covers branding, design, art direction, strategy, UX and UI. Currently leading a small team as Creative Director, STUDEO Design builds brands and tells stories that connect with people. STUDEO Design partners with start-ups and established businesses to communicate what they stand for and execute creative solutions to help them succeed. He has been honoured with a Platinum Graphis Advertising award, as well as having work featured in Applied Arts and other creative outlets. Dav is leading the brand vision for Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies.
