This course examines advanced theories and research methodologies in Religious Studies,
integrating classical frameworks with contemporary critical interventions (feminist, postcolonial,
Indigenous, critical race, and decolonizing scholarship). Students develop hands-on competence
with methods including ethnography, discourse analysis, hermeneutics, and digital/visual
approaches while reflecting on ethics, representation, and positionality. A major component is the
design and defense of an independent research proposal suitable for honours, capstone, or
graduate preparation.
