Course Overview:

Purchasing and Supply Chain involves the process of acquiring the goods and services an organization needs to operate and produce its products. It includes the flow of goods – raw materials, finished products, how those goods are acquired and stored, and how they reach customers, ensuring the company is running smoothly.

Prerequisite:

  • The student must have completed grade 12 or equivalent education.
  • Students from non-English speaking countries must pass the English Language Proficiency Test.
  • English Language Proficiency Test scores (IELTS – 6.0, TOEFL – 70, PTE – 45, CAEL – 70, CAE – 176, Duolingo – 110, Password – 6.5, and PTE – 61) are acceptable.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding of the overall purchasing and supply chain management process, including sourcing, negotiation, inventory management and delivery.
  • Ability to identify key factors influencing purchasing and supply chain decisions, such as cost, quality, delivery, and risk.
  • Knowledge of strategies for sourcing goods and services, including identifying potential suppliers and negotiating contracts.
  • Knowledge of Inventory management techniques to ensure that suitable goods and services are available when needed, without excess inventory that ties up capital.
  • Ability to coordinate the flow of goods from the suppliers to the organization, including transportation, warehousing, and logistics activities.
  • Aptitude to apply analytical tools and techniques to analyze and solve complex problems related to purchasing and supply chain management.
  • Understanding of ethical and social responsibilities and the impact of their decisions on stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, and the environment.
  • Ability to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of purchasing and supply chain management activities, including areas for improvement and implementing changes.
