Dr. Rita Kaur Dhamoon is an Assistant Professor in Political Science, at the University of Victoria which sits on the traditional Indigenous territory of the Esquimalt, Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples and Nations. Dr. Dhamoon’s areas of teaching and research include critical race feminism, postcolonial and anticolonial politics, Sikhs in Canada, gender and feminism, queer politics, critiques of multiculturalism, anti-caste politics, and the connections and tensions between Sikhs (and South Asians) and other racialized groups including Indigenous peoples, Muslims, Asians, and Black peoples. Dr. Dhamoon has been active in community-driven movements for social and political change for over thirty years.
