Dr. Amritpal Kaur is a former Dean, Academic Affairs, Punjabi University, Patiala. She has held several other eminent positions, including Dean Languages, Head of Department, and Additional Dean, Students-Girls at Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Kaur has been a Professor in the Department of Punjabi Literary Studies for over 30 years. She is also a founding Director of Gurmat Gyan Online Study Center. Dr. Kaur has expertise in the field of Gurbani/Gurmat Studies. Her research areas include Punjabi literary lexicography, ‘parwasi’ (diaspora) Punjabi literary works, and women studies. She has authored over two dozen books and has published over 100 research papers and articles. She has delivered 24 lectures as a resource person and organized more than twenty international and national conferences, seminars, and workshops. Dr. Kaur has guided fifteen Ph.D. research scholars who successfully obtained their degrees. Currently, she is supervising scholars who are pursuing their research under her. Dr. Kaur is the recipient of the ‘Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha’ Award (1995) by the Language Department and the ‘Maula Baksh Kushta Award’ (1997) by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, for Gurbani Sanchar Vigyan. She is a distinguished poet, researcher, teacher, social worker, and administrator who continues to provide inspiration and mentoring to graduate and undergraduate students, particularly young women aspiring for careers in academia.
