1. This policy governs complaints from students respecting Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies (GNI) and any aspects of its operations.
  2. GNI is committed to finding a resolution to any disagreement as quickly as possible.
  3. A Student who makes or is otherwise involved in a complaint will not be subject to any form of retaliation by GNI at any time.
  4. Student complaints must be made in writing. The process by which the Student complaint will be handled is laid out below:
    4.1 Step One:
4.1.1 Submit a written complaint to the course Instructor. The Instructor email is firstname.lastname@gurunanakinstitute.ca
4.1.2 The Instructor  will meet with the Complainant within 15 days to find a resolution.
4.1.3 If no resolution is found, the complaint will be forwarded to the Senior Education Administrator (SEA) either hand-delivered to the office, mailed to the GNI address on the website, or emailed sea@gurunanakinstitute.ca.
    4.2 Step Two:
4.2.1. Within 15 days from the receipt of the complaint, the SEA or a designate will review the complaint and determine if the Students’ complaint has any merits.
4.2.2. SEA or designate may decide to meet with the Complainant to find a resolution.
4.2.3 If no resolution is found, the SEA must provide written reasons for their determination
4.2.4 The written reasons will advise a Student that if the Student is dissatisfied with the determination and has been misled by GNI regarding any significant aspect of that program, the Student may file a complaint with the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) (www.privatetraininginstitutions.gov.bc.ca). Complaints must be filed with PTIB within one year of a Student’s completion, dismissal, or withdrawal from the program.
  5. The student making the complaint may be represented by an agent or a lawyer.
  6. In the case that the complaint is against the course instructor, the complainant should directly send the written complaint to the SEA, and the SEA or their designate will meet with the student within 15 days and follow procedures laid out in Step Two.
  7. In the case the complaint is about the SEA, the student should directly send the written complaint to the Director of Human Resources & Internal Affairs (Director), at gurjitkaur@gurunanakinstitute.ca  and the Director or their designate will meet with the student within 15 days and follow procedures laid out in Step 2.
