Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies respectfully acknowledges that we operate on the traditional and unceded territories of the Kwantlen, Katzie, and Semiahmoo First Nations. We recognize their enduring presence and contributions and are committed to advancing education in a spirit of respect and responsibility.

Welcome to Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies (GNI)

Established in 2021, GNI was founded with a clear academic purpose: to contribute to higher education through rigorous scholarship, responsible governance, and programs aligned with recognized standards of quality and accountability in British Columbia.

As a registered non-profit charitable institution, GNI operates within a structured governance framework that maintains appropriate separation between fiduciary oversight by the Board of Directors and academic decision-making exercised through qualified academic leadership and the Academic Council. This framework supports institutional integrity, transparency, and continuous quality improvement consistent with post-secondary standards.

The Institute currently offers certificate and diploma programs in Religious Studies and Sikh Studies, Business and Global Management, Supply Chain Management, Cybersecurity and Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and related professional disciplines. These programs integrate academic foundations with applied learning to prepare students for responsible professional and community engagement.

GNI has submitted an application to the Degree Quality Assessment Board (DQAB) seeking approval to offer a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Major in Sikh Studies. The program will be offered only upon formal approval by the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. At this stage, our priority is strengthening academic capacity, quality assurance systems, and sustainable institutional foundations consistent with provincial expectations for degree-level education.

Education, in my view, must be intellectually serious, ethically grounded, and socially responsible. The values associated with Guru Nanak’s emancipatory teachings: equality, critical reflection, and social responsibility, inform our institutional ethos. At GNI, these principles are expressed through scholarly rigour, qualified academic leadership, and responsible stewardship in service of the broader community.

I invite you to explore our programs and governance framework and to engage with our growing academic community.

Sincerely,

Gian Singh Sandhu
President and Chief Executive Officer
