Pursuing a summer internship at the Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies, a non-profit educational institute, was both exciting and intimidating. Motivated by the chance to gain real- world experience and apply my academic knowledge, I hoped to learn new skills and network with team members. Leading up to the first day, I felt a mix of anticipation and nervousness. Encouraged by family and friends, I prepared by researching the company, planning my outfits, and organizing my materials.

Mr. Sandhu warmly welcomed me, introduced me to my team, and gave me an office tour, helping me get acquainted with the layout. The orientation session provided a comprehensive overview of the company’s values, culture, innovation, and future goals. During the initial meeting, my team’s projects were also laid out. It’s always difficult to adjust to a new environment, and there were some technical difficulties, but support was always available.

By mid-week, I had established a daily routine balancing focus and productivity, using a planner to manage my time effectively. I learned the importance of seeking help and asking questions, which were always responded to with patience. Completing my first assignments boosted my confidence and motivation. Having lunchtime conversations and breaks helped build connections with team members.

The first week was filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness. Despite the initial challenges, early achievements and support from colleagues made the transition smoother. As I look forward to the coming weeks, I know there will be challenges, but I also see them as opportunities for growth and learning.
